How to Bid At an Auction

Say you have never been to an auction before?
There is no need to worry!
Nance Auction & Realty Service has made it simple for you.
Follow these 5 easy steps:

1. Registration: To actively participate in the bidding process, you must first register. We will need your name, correct address, telephone number, and your N C driver’s license number.

2. The Bid Card: The purpose of the bid card is to identify you as you are bidding. This number will be used by the auctioneer to identify you in the event you are the highest bidder.

3. The Bidding Process: The auctioneer will offer each personal property on an individual basis. Listen to the phrases such as “Times the money”, or “You can take one or all”, or “You are bidding on one, but you must take two, three, etc.” Don’t worry about scratching that itch on your nose, or motioning to someone; the auctioneer if unsure will ask if you are bidding.

4. The Highest Bidder: If you are the highest bidder on an antique, collectible or personal property, a representative of the Auctioneer will approach you with your item. You can record the price you paid for the item on the back of your bid card. Make sure you know where your items are at all times.

5. Closing: When you are ready to leave, all items must be paid for before you load your vehicle. Approach the cashier with your bid card and they will go over your sales tickets with you. You are responsible for any items handed to you by the auctioneer’s representative during the auction sale.
